CAROL’S CORNER

Welcome to another Friday night in Carol's Corner. It was a beautiful albeit warm day today, but the night was just perfect. Had a date night with hubby. We went to this really nice place in Ithaca on Cayuga Lake called Boatside Grill. We sat on the outdoor deck right alongside the lake with boats right in the dock. There was live music. My dinner was fabulous, but did eat a sinful dessert. The most fun though was people watching. I just have to share this picture. Boats are in the docks all along the outside deck and they get their dinners served right to their boats. These two cute dogs had their life jackets on. Can't resist sharing it. Isn't this just the cutest?

Now back to my ensemble. I totally love this dress. I was so pleased that my 8 pound weight gain doesn't seem to be noticeable wearing this dress. Like I said, it must be the exercise. I love that it totally covers me but feels incredibly sexy at the same time. Calling this, “Bold Strokes.” Good description of me?

I opted for silvertoned jewelry in bold large pieces.

My awesome FitBit bracelet went perfectly with the bold pieces that were my necklace and earrings. Wearing this brought a totally new look to a dress I have worn many times before.

I'd like to open tonight's discussion with a question put forth by Jillian Michaels. Do you constantly think you aren't deserving of all the good things that life has to offer, do you put everyone else first and yourself last? Do you do nice things for everyone else but yourself? Don't you think it's time you changed your line of thinking? Isn't it about time that you realize your worth? You made the first step in the right direction when you started this journey, but that is just the beginning. It is time you took care of yourself, not just in diet and exercise alone, but all of you, inside and out. God meant for you to be the best you can be in every way. I'd like to challenge you to work on some areas in the coming weeks.

Are you waiting till you get to your desired weigh goal before you do nice things for yourself? Well stop the waiting right now. Sit down and do some brainstorming. Set pen to paper. Make a list and divide it by categories. Make sections like personal care(haircuts, make up, etc,) wardrobe, entertainment, etc. list all the things you would like to get or do, and then set up some kind of reward system where you will start to do things for yourself that will make you feel great and motivate you at the same time.

For instance how about this? Every time you do a workout you put a dollar in a jar (or whatever you designate). Decide how long you want the money to stay in the jar, possibly a month? At the end of that time you take that money and do something you have wanted to. Buy a new workout outfit, get a pedicure, anything that would make you feel good about yourself and what you are accomplishing one step at a time.

I'd like to say something about your workout attire. Don't wear dumpy old tee shirts and baggy sweats when you work out. Get yourself one or two sets of fitted Capri leggings and matching tops; something that makes you happy wearing it and working out. You will be able to see your body as it changes and seeing the changes will be both motivating and inspiring to you. And of course make sure you have a good pair of walking shoes.

Make your own list of Weight Loss Rewards and make sure you redeem them every time one of them is met. Knowing you have something to look forward to when you meet a goal you have set for yourself will be empowering and prove to be beneficial both physically and emotionally.

While you're on this journey to reach a healthy weight and fit body take some time and do something that you have always wanted to try. Discover what excites you and go for it. It was through my own journey that I discovered that I had the ability to inspire and motivate people. I also discovered that I had a God given talent to be able to communicate through the written word and through that, people could really sense the type of person I am and I have been able to develop real relationships with people I've never even met. My whole experience has been amazing. Set out to discover what excites you. Find out where your talents lie and start to use them. You won't be sorry you did. Broaden your horizons and embrace every part of this journey. You might just find a whole new side of you, you didn't know existed. Take the time to nurture every part of you, physically, emotionally and spiritually. You are important. You deserve to be healthy, happy and fulfilled. This is your time. Make the most of it! Till next time, God Bless.
