Welcome to the Saturday night edition of Carol's Corner. Had another nice day in Central New York . Nice but not hot and muggy. We still don't get very warm nights like most summers usually have though. Late night gets kind of chilly. We were dancing for our usual Saturday night at the Country Music Park and we were able to take another picture with this beautiful scenery. Today I'm at the other end of the color spectrum. I love how this outfit came together. I decided to use the white seperates pairing texture on texture. Then to add pops of color I put the bright red Cami Shaper underneath the blouse and left part of it unbuttoned. I had this gorgeous set of Jewelry I had made that was perfect with it and added my red shoes. Totally love the whole thing. Calling this one,”Snow White,Snow Red.”
Just loved how I could take all these different aspects and make it all come together for a winning and fun look.
Thought I would gear tonight's talk to the exercise portion of our journey. I found this really cool and interesting graphic to get us started. What set of steps do you find yourself on? Do you find your reasons for exercising have changed over time? Mine definitely have. Did I start out at number one? Not sure. Guess the doctor probably said I should. I think my reasons were a combination of steps 2-4. Health reasons for me probably came before the other two. All my health issues are better if I exercise on a regular basis. I didn't begin that though till I was in the halfway point in my weight loss journey. Once I started I haven't stopped since. In fact now I exercise even longer and more than at any point in my life. I rarely take a rest day unless I'm sick or circumstances make it impossible. As for number 5, I would change that for me anyway, from happiness to satisfaction. I feel a big sense of satisfaction and accomplishment that I am able to do so much more than I ever did and at this stage of my life. That brings me to the last step. At every part of this journey I want to be an inspiration. One of my biggest goals is to inspire seniors. I want them to know that they can do so much more than they ever thought, both in weight loss and fitness. I want to inspire everyone to be the best they can be at whatever stage of life they are.
Are you reluctant to begin your journey into the world of fitness because you think you can't do enough to make a difference or that you won't be strong enough? Take note of the above statement. Everything starts with that very first step. Every single step you take is beneficial. There are no negatives to exercise. You only have to decide what is best for you individually and just get started.
I really love the graphic above because the picture illustrates the sentiment expressed so perfectly. If you decide you are going somewhere, you can't get there if you stay where you are. First You have to decide where you're going or if you're going, and then take the steps necessary to get there. Do you want to stay where you are or do you want to get on the road to better health and fitness? You decide. If you decide to get on that road you just need to take that first step. Once you do the rest will follow.
Again love the graphic, pictures paired with words can show you a lot and make you think. Don't worry if you can't do as much or go as far as you want to, every step or mile or minute you workout adds up to better fitness. Start with whatever you feel you can do and add on as you get stronger. Just be consistent and workout as often as you can. The more you exercise the stronger and more fit you will become. You will have more strength and stamina as you build on each step that you take in your fitness journey. If you ever had told me I would be exercising over an hour every day, I would have said, “Yeah dream on.” But that is exactly what I'm doing, and almost all the time every day. And now I'm also working on my strength training as well as my cardio on a regular basis.
Do you find yourself on days saying you don't have the time to workout? Or do you say I just don't feel up to a lengthy workout? On these days remember that just a short workout can beneficial. Any workout is always better than no workout. If you can only carve out 15 minutes take a 15 minute walk outside or pop in a DVD and do one of the many 15 minutes miles that are available, your body will thank you for it. And a short workout is a great stress reliever and mood elevator.
Remember these words often if you think you didn't exercise long enough or hard enough. Don't get down on yourself if you took a walk or jog and didn't go as far as you thought you should or didn't go as fast as you wanted to. The only thing that mattered is that you did that exercise routine or went on that walk or run. You did something. Be proud of yourself.
So, what step did you land on today? What step will you land on tomorrow? I think you know what my answer is to both. So as you go about your day make plans to land on the top step. Believe me you won't regret it. Make fitness a priority and you will benefit in a myriad of ways. Till next time, God Bless.
