CAROL’S CORNER

It’s Friday night, or guess I should say Saturday morning by now, on Carol’s Corner. Hope you have had a wonderful, successful, and productive day. In today’s pic , I’m wearing the second of three blouses from my NY & Co. purchase this week. Really love how this blouse looks and flows. It’s one of those outfits that feels fun & flirty. Had a day just for myself today. Went for my manicure which is my newest vice. I get a gel crystal surface on my nails along with gel polish. It’s amazing and my nails really grow. Wanted to take a picture since it went really well with my outfit, but since hubby was sound asleep when I got home , I couldn’t make a selfie come out. Maybe tomorrow I can get a good one. After my manicure I went to see the Hunger Games, Mocking-jay Part 1. Then before I went home, had dinner at Applebees. Have to tell you about this wonderful new entree they have. It’s healthy and under 600 calories. It’s called Cedar Grilled Lemon Chicken. It’s garnished with Granny Smith Relish topped with Lemon Oil Vinaigrette over a bed of Cranberries, Rice, Honey-Glazed Pecans, & Quinoa. It is quite delicious. Now onto what I would like to discuss today. I sometimes take my cues from the posts I read on SIS. This has to do with getting rid of and purging your wardrobe as needed, during and after your weight loss journey is complete. Hanging onto what was the old you does nothing positive. To be successful in this journey that needs to lasts a lifetime, you can never look backwards, you can only look ahead. Ahead to a life filled with promise , good health , and the joy that comes from taking care of yourself in body, mind, and spirit. As you progress , shed your old clothes as they become big and unflattering. Buy a few good fitting pieces that you feel good in. Supplement along the way with things you can find from all the thrift stores out there. You’d be surprised what you can find, if you’re willing to take the time. Rejoice every time you have to do this, because it bring’s you one step closer to the goals you have set for yourself. When you reach that goal , start building your permanent wardrobe, piece by piece. Don’t keep around things from the old you . That can just give you an excuse to go backwards again. I did that before, not this time. I want nothing around to remind me of the old me. I want no excuse to slip back and undo the joy I feel now , when I get ready to face the world each day. I don’t want anything to rob me of that. It is also a good way to hold ourselves accountable. So so shed everything , each size as you go along. Purge it all. Give it to charity , do anything, but don’t keep reminders of your old self. You are becoming the new you, one that is vibrant, joyful, and so much healthier. Embrace it and never, ever look back.

We’ll end tonight with a look at two more Leslie Videos. The first one is a real blast from the past. It was produced back in 2002 and boy does everything look different. It is a Special Deluxe Edition, a two on one DVD. It’s called Walk Aerobics with Leslie Sansone. There are many different combinations you can pick to do. The Weight Loss Walk Has three twenty minute segments ranging from 1 to 1.5 miles and increase in intensity . You decide what to do. The Two Mile Walk features the Fit -O -Meter, a graphic device that keeps track of your workout time, pace, and distance covered. So mix and match any way you choose. If you choose to do them all , it runs for a full 95 minutes. Now that would be a workout! The second offering is Walk It Off in 30 days. This was produced in 2013. There are two different types of workouts on this. There’s the burn 30 Workout, which is 30 minutes of non-stop cardio. You can use hand weights on this , if you so choose. The second one is The Firm 30 Workout, 30 minutes of non-stop Strength Training. Optional equipment can be moderate weight dumbbells of your choice. They recommend doing each workout on alternate days. That’s it for today. Hope you enjoyed. Now get out there and get moving. May God bless you as you go on the journey of a lifetime. See you next time.

  1. I have a question for you. If I am at my top weight, should I purge my smaller clothes? I have so many clothes in so many sizes that it has become completely unmanageable. I am thinking to keep my size now and many a few sizes down, but get rid of the smallest stuff – unless it is an A++ outfit. Let me know what you think.

    1. Gee I have not thought about smaller sizes. Do you have a weight range goal in mind and know in the ballpark, what size that would be? As you are losing I would purge the too large categories and since you said you have many sizes you’d probably have things to wear as you progress in your journey. Until you know for sure what your endgame is I wouldn’t get rid of smaller clothes Just bigger ones. Wish I hadn’t gotten rid of my smaller ones from years earlier. I went farther than my original goal was and really am happy I did that. Make sense?

  2. I agree with Carol about purging larger clothes (but keep the smaller ones until you get to your ideal comfortable weight). Good for you and taking the time for self care just getting nails done. So important for our souls and confidence!
