CAROL’S CORNER

Welcome back to Carol's Corner. Sorry I couldn't post the last two days. Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween. This is the first time in my adult life that I actually dressed up for Halloween. This year I decided to have some fun. It coincided with our Saturday night dance so that made it even better. I think I will have to make this a new tradition from now on. It was a blast. I went as a belly dancer, but some even thought I could be a gypsy and other's a Bollywood dancer. They're all good by me. Got lot's of different picture's to show you. But first the winner of naming this ensemble is Andy Haney with, “Genie In A Bottle.”

My nail's were done especially to go with my costume. For some reason the ensemble looks more blue in the picture but it is actually a very vivid deep purple. I had to forgo wearing a watch. On the right wrist I wore this beautiful bracelet that houses my FitBit exercise tracker. I chose this purple ring which is a beautiful flower.

Now this bracelet is amazing. The butterfly wings actually flop up and down.

At some point during our evening all those in costume had to parade around the dance floor, so in the spirit of things when I came to the front I had to do a little shake, which I had to do in another photo since no one was taking pictures of me at that time.

So the last of my Halloween pictures came from the local diner where the two waitresses Angel and Evelyn wanted their pictures taken with me. Some other patrons were nice enough to oblige.

I love this picture!!! This one is Angel.

And this the three of us. I have to tell you, it sure was fun people watching that night. I hope you had as much fun Halloween night as I did.

I want to talk to you a little bit about listening to your body, something I am forced to do from time to time. I tend to fight it till my body just crashes and says, “Enough is Enough,” which it did just yesterday. Do you have to be forced to listen to your body like I do? I burn the candle at both ends and then a day comes when my body totally rebels and then I have to rest whether I want to or not. Such was my day yesterday. There are times that I go 48 hours and only sleep 3 or 4 and still try to do my usual number of workouts, work around the house and try and write my blog every night. Well yesterday, I couldn't do any of that. I was supposed to go to a fundraiser breakfast for my grandson's school and then go to church. I did neither. I had to sleep till later, to get ready for something I HAD to do in the afternoon. I hadn't done any workouts by evening. At 8pm I decided to lay down and take an hour nap, get up, workout, and then go to Denny's and write my blog. Again my body just said NO. I never got up and slept all the way till 1:30 this afternoon except for maybe 30 minutes during the night. When I even attempt to lay down at that time of night you can bet my body is forcing me to do just that. Since my accident I seem to have to listen to my body more than I did before. Maybe that is God's way of slowing me down. I am starting to see that even though I don't want to, I need to take rest days from everything including my workouts and writing my blog and even housework. I thought I would include some good links for you to read at your leisure on taking rest days from your exercise routine.

Another very informative read.

I hope you will find the above links helpful. I also hope you can see by my own personal experiences, that there are times when you have no choice but to listen to your body. Here's to a new week and new beginnings. As 2015 begins to wind down let's make the rest of it be as productive as possible. Till next time, God Bless.
