CAROL’S CORNER

Welcome to another edition of Carol's Corner. Hope everyone had the start of a great weekend. Not getting this started till the wee hours of the morning. Tonight was a night filled with fun and dancing, from around 6:30-midnight and then to Denny's after that. My picture tonight is in what you might call my little black dress. I actually got this little number at the thrift store. It fits me like a glove and hugs every curve. I am totally covered , but it sure feels sexy. My girlfriend named this one,” Night Out On The Town With Black Beauty.”

This is a little sequined topper in case I needed it.

Decided to accessorize with silver to break up the black. This is my fancy silver FitBit bracelet and this awesome ring I got last year on sale as Boscov's. I even had on silver sequined shoes. Funny story, kind of. We started our evening with a block party on Main Street. It's a summer concert series with music by lots of different bands. Well every time I would clap the hinge of the bracelet opened a little and caught my arm in it and now I have about an inch wide bruise.

Dancing tonight allowed me to add almost 9,000 steps to my step count. Dancing now is one of my passions. Until 5 years ago I didn't know what REAL dancing was. Now I can't live without it. We do everything. My favorites are swing, cha cha, and waltz, but we do many other kinds of steps and of course we love square dancing. Now there's some cardio. If you don't know how to dance take some lessons. There's nothing like it and great exercise in every way. It's always the highlight of my week and we'll be back dancing again tonight. If you can't do what I like to call “Real Dancing”, you don't know what you're missing.

I have gotten a lot of positive feedback on these more personal blogs I have done the last few days so I am going to try and continue to do this for awhile. I still don't have my eating back in control, but my exercise is something I do no matter what, except if I'm sick. Thank God I've only been sick twice November of 2013, which is really amazing. I guess when I say 64 and never been better, it's really the case. I totally attribute all of it to my weight loss and in a large part to daily exercise. If you're not making that a priority you need to. It makes a major difference in every way. If you're under a lot of stress, exercise can be your friend. If you've had a bad day, get out those walking shoes and work away that stress. Your body and your mind will thank you for it. If you're feeling tired and fatigued, it might not be rest you need.. Get on those workout clothes, tie up those sneakers and get that heart pumping. After a good workout you will feel energized and invigorated. And exercising with Leslie (Leslie Sansone, if you're not familiar with her workouts) is just plain fun and easy to follow. Even though I have some other videos I still like Leslie the best. If you're just being half hazard with your workouts, commit yourself to finding a way to making the time everyday to do something. I've been trying to do at least six miles worth every day , sometimes more, plus some part of my new circuit training video at least three times a week, love that one. My goal for July is to do 200 miles worth of workouts. I fell just short of that in June. Believe in yourself. Take care of you. Do what you need to do to become the person you aspire to be. Don't let anyone or anything stop you. Don't let others bring you down. Start with baby steps, and those baby steps will turn into bigger ones and before you know it, your worst days will be in the rear view mirror and your best days are just over the horizon. See the big picture. When you have a set back, dust yourself off and continue on the journey. Like they say,” What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.”

Harness this and continue on the journey to becoming the healthy, fit, and dynamic person that God means you to be, and remember don't ever ever give up.

Till next time, God Bless!
