Welcome to another night in Carol’s Corner. Had a busy day today. Only slept a few hours as I had to get up early to get ready to go to Syracuse for another eye injection for the eye disease that returned in my left eye. That went well and go back in June for another one. I’ve lost track of how many I have had. Was another nice day in Central New York. Decided today was a skirt day and got out this pretty Jennifer Lopez blouse to team with this cute little cream color skirt. The blouse has a sparkly sequined layer underneath. I’m calling this one “Swirling Sands”.

The jewelry I chose for this is another of my creations and pairs really well with the soft colors in the top and also with my FitBit combo.

So tonight’s topic is going to be slightly different from the norm. I’ve been asked by one of my reader’s to do a review of sorts on the Plexus Diet, what is it, is it safe, and so forth . So I will see what I can come up with. I am going to use information from Dr. Czys is a Chiropractor, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist,Certified Wellness Practitioner, Certified Nutrition Counselor, and Professional Speaker. He owns the franchise Eupraxia, which specializes in teaching people how to maximize their life through fitness and nutrition.

The article I will be using is “Plexus; Drink Pink and Shrink….Or Not”. It was published in June of 2014.

Before I start with this, I am going to provide you with links to two other products he reviewed prior to this. One is Advocare and the other is Isagenix. The links will be in that order. Advocare Review Isagenix Review

So back to what Dr Czys has to say about Plexus. He was bombarded with questions about Plexus after his reviews of the two products above. He states that he is blown away that “people buy this stuff”.

“Drink pink and shrink” is the Plexus catch line. “ Half an hour before a meal -it does not matter which meal, it can be breakfast, lunch, or dinner-pour the Plexus Slim Powder into a 12 oz glass/ bottle of water, stir/shake and drink. That’s all there is to it!’ It’s just that easy….

Let’s take a look at what these supposed fat burning ingredients that can negate poor eating choices consists of. The first ingredient in Plexus Slim is chlorogenic acid. Chlorogenic acid can be found in bamboo and many other plants including peaches, prunes, and green coffee bean extract. There are absolutely zer0 valid, long term quality studies, to even suggest this extract can promote weight loss or is safe.

Leaving the fact there is no quality research to support the claims of this ingredient aside, let’s just go with the common sense approach. Do you really think a small amount of extract from a coffee seed can erase poor eating choices and lack of exercise and create a healthy body? Sometimes common sense isn’t the all that common. ( Love this line by the way. I can relate to that in numerous ways)

The next ingredient is garcinia cambogia, a tropical plant that looks a lot like acorn squash. This product does have some research. A clinical study concluded that it has no effect on weight loss or reduction of fat mass. In fact, the placebo group, or people taking fake pills, actually lost more weight than the people taking the garcinia cambogia. To make matters worse, a meta-analysis published in 2010, revealed that gastrointestinal adverse effects, such as diarhea, could be the cause of some people’s weight loss.

The above is an ad that annoyed the author greatly. He had the following to say about it: ” Who needs to workout when you can just pay for some overpriced gimmick that had been proven not to work?”( and then went on to say) Exercise has so many health benefits; to not exercise on a regular basis is insane. To even suggest not exercising, eating what you want, and then adding a pink drink per day will lead to weight loss and improved health, is criminal. A recent study suggests that exercise is far more likely to determine a woman’s future risk of heart disease than any other factor, including smoking, obesity, and high blood pressure! ( very interesting)

Now this is funny. Great mix of humor and truth. Kudo’s to the author. He says that this would be a proper advertisement, because that is exactly what is happening. He found 30 servings of Plexus Slim costs $99.99 on Amazon. Just think of the amount of amazingly healthy fruits and vegetables, that will guarantee improved health, you could buy with that money. This comes directly from the Plexus Slim product page:

” FAT METABOLISM–Chlorogenic acids are one of the major classes of phenolic compounds. They are present in a large variety of fruits and vegetables. EXACTLY, GO BUY A LARGE VARIETY OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES.

I am sure says the author, that some of you have been, or will be approached by a distributor who has lost weight while taking this product. He goes on to say that he guarantee’s the seller changed lifestyle habits as well, which are the true cause of the weight loss. New distributors are extra motivated to lose weight so they can use their own stories to improve future sales. If you are truly serious, and want to lose weight the healthy way, find someone who will teach you proper diet and exercise.

I hope you have found this to be informative and helpful. Everyone wants to believe there is some magic pill that will just allow us to experience weight loss without the work. It just doesn’t happen . Nothing comes without hard work and perseverance. Just recently I bought a bottle of the Garcinea Cambogia , because I hear it talked about daily. Was going to add it to my supplements, until while reading during my research into this, that it possibly causes liver damage. Glad I only took a few. Gonna throw out the whole bottle.

Nothing promotes good health and weight loss more than a proper diet and exercise regime. So decide on yours and work it, work it, work it. And remember when you screw up, a fresh start comes at any meal or day of the week. The ONLY way to fail is to GIVE UP. So work hard and one day you will reap the rewards that come with your continued perseverance. Till next time, God Bless.

  1. I really enjoyed this one! I have bought some of these gimmicks, but never follow-thru on taking them. They often make me feel funny.
