Welcome back to my spot in the blogosphere known as Carol’s Corner. Hope everyone is staying safe and warm. Been another wintry day here in my section of the Northeast. This winter can’t end soon enough to suit me. Had a great day though. We’re away this weekend and are staying at my husband’s brother’s farm. We came back to go to a bridal shower for his son’s fiancé. Had a great time. Won this awesome hydrating body lotion from Victoria’s Secret called Pure Daydream. It smell’s amazing. I didn’t pack any lotion and my hands felt awful, so this came in very handy. The picture for today is what I wore to the shower. Purple is one of my favorite colors. Wore boots there, but put my shoes on when we got back to the farm. The picture was taken in their living room. I’m going to post a close up of the necklace. Everyone commented on it. Believe it or not, I got this in Walmart for $4.97 . I love it.
Isn’t it spectacular ? I just knew I had to have it as soon as I saw it.
This shows a nice closeup of my bracelet, which is Amythyst and Jade, a lovely combination. So that’s it on the picture portion and onto the meat, our topic. This is going to be a multi day undertaking and it might have many links, we shall see. My blog takes shape as I go along. My cousin Christine came up with a ton of suggestions. I picked one which I think you will all enjoy and will be a change of pace. This is not about diet or exercise. We are going to be exploring the topic of dressing for your body type. My cousin said since I am the resident fashion maven, this should be just the topic for me to persue. It should be very interesting.
We’re going to start out with information from The Joy Of Clothes in the style advice section. The first thing that has to be done is to determine what your body type is. I’m going to put this link up now , so you can refer back to the site and see the pictures. It will be explained how to make that determination as we get into this. http://www.joyofclothes.com/style-advice/shape-guides/body-shapes-overview.php
Here they show 7 different body types . They are as follows: The Inverted Triangle, The Lean Column, The Rectangle, The Apple, The Pear, The Neat Hour Glass, and The Full Hour Glass. Refer to the pictures in the provided link. The clothes that will flatter you the best will depend on your body shape. No matter your coloring, scale, height, proportion, or body type there is something for everyone. And when it come’s to looking good, it’s not your size or shape that matters it’s the fit of your clothes. Wearing the right clothes shouldn’t be about the latest trend , it should be about what actually suits you and what makes you feel comfortable and confident. By knowing your basic body shape , and understanding the types of clothes that will accentuate your good features ( and minimize you less than perfect ones) , means you will be able to dress in a way that really suits you. Because today there are so many options out there, you will always be able to find something that compliments your body shape, scale, proportions, coloring, personality, and lifestyle. Before you know what clothes to buy and which styles look best on you, you’ll need to know which body shape you are. When choosing clothes, your aim is to create the illusion of having a balanced body. The Neat Hour Glass is considered to be the most perfect and balanced body shape with:
SHOULDERS AND HIPS IN LINE
A DEFINED BUST
A WAIST, EVEN WITH A SOFT CURVY TUMMY
A CURVED BOTTOM
Note that the most perfect and balanced body does not sound like that of a toothpick, does it ? The problem with understanding your body shape is that most women focus on specific areas that they see as problems. This can cloud your judgement , when it comes to seeing the whole picture. It’s important to view yourself as a whole, so you can define your body shape.
To analyze your body shape, look at yourself in the mirror in your underwear. Stand with your legs together and your arms a bit away from your sides. Examine the area, from under your arms, past your bust and rib cage, over your waist and hips to the fullest part of your thighs. Then look at the 7 body shape sketches at the beginning of the above link. Once you know your shape , you need to examine your proportion , scale, and your features, e.g., bust, tummy, arms, and thighs. We are going to stop here for tonight and tomorrow we will start going through each body type one by one. I think you will all find this to be a nice change of pace from everything diet and exercise related. Like I said this will be a multi day undertaking, but one I think you find to be very enlightening. Remember , stay strong, stay focused, and never ever quit. Till next time, God Bless.
